<THE MAGIC BEGINS - A Harry Potter Challenge » [1/30]:
Favourite character:Harry James Potter.
» It took me a while to figure out who was my favourite character in this series because there are so many well-developed, well-written characters that I can relate to and admire greatly, but it all came down to Harry in the end. The reason all my favourite characters became my favourite characters was because of Harry—let me explain with Neville: Neville’s character was introduced as a weak little boy, who’s scared of a lot of things and forgets thigns easily. He, along with other people, doubted himself, he doubted his place in Gryffindor. I, as a reader, doubted him too. It wasn’t until Order of the Pheonix where we see Neville in a new light—a strong, determined, selfless young man who’s place in Gryffindor was as sure as Godric himself. How does he become this confident, sure person? Because of Harry. Because Harry showed him the strength of his abilities, he showed him that courage is not measured by how hard you hit or how fast you conquer, but by the strength of your belief—by your unwavering hold on what you want to do. Harry showed Neville that he was so much more than he gave himself credit for. This, along with many other examples, is why Harry is my favourite. He’s a good man with a good heart; selfless, strong, kind, passionate, loving. He makes my favourite characters irresistible because he forces out the good traits in them. A good person brings out the good in people. [FEEL FREE TO DELETE THIS TEXT]
